Two energy-efficient houses built by Building Construction students at Manchester Community College are for sale at the college.

Students in the program begin building a house during their freshman year, and then complete it during their second year. The 26 x 32 sq. ft. two-bedroom, one bath ranch-style houses feature cedar clapboards, custom raised panel pine kitchen cabinets and are built to the NH Energy Code, wired to the National Electric Code standards, and plumbed to NH State codes.

"In the past, these houses have sold very quickly," says Professor Dana Mosher, department coordinator for the building construction program, "and used as camps and vacation homes, or bought by developers who put them on foundations with sewage and water systems and then resold them. But in this real estate market, it's been more difficult."

Information on the houses, including floor plans, elevations, detailed specifications and estimated costs to move and complete the houses can be found here or call Paula Hennessey in the MCC Business Office, 206-8137, or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
