Slots are available for fall term.

If you can learn how to turn the heat up or cool the place down, a job awaits you, Manchester Community College officials say.

MCC is hosting an open house Aug. 14 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. to anyone interested in its degree and certificate program for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning, or HVAC, field.

The fall semester begins in a few weeks, and slots are still available for the MCC program, which the school says has a 100% hiring rate for graduates. The MCC HVAC team offers prospective students and families a tour of the new facility, and visitors can talk with an admissions counselor, learn about career and transfer options, and explore the financial aid options available.

“We offer degree and certificate programs that align well with the types of jobs available throughout New Hampshire,” said Brian Bicknell, vice president of academic affairs. “We have worked closely with area employers to design a program that will prepare workers for what they will meet in the real world. And we have connections with businesses that are hiring, so graduates of these programs leave campus and head straight to work.”

Business owners say it’s a great return on investment because the MCC program gives graduates work-ready skills.

“We are desperate for good workers,” said Joel Pickering, president of Denron Plumbing and HVAC LLC in Manchester, who is also a former adjunct teacher at MCC and currently serves as a member of the MCC Advisory Board for HVAC. “Our industry is seeing explosive growth and we need workers. People can expect to leave the classroom and make a really good salary right away. Most are even able to secure employment in the field while taking classes in the program.
