Manchester Community College and Granite State College formalized a new partnership Wednesday afternoon at the MCC Student Center to make bachelor degrees more affordable.

MCC President Dr. Susan Huard said: "With this partnership, MCC students and others in Greater Manchester have a new, seamless and affordable option to earn a bachelor degree right on our campus."

The MCC president said the plan to share resources and space "is a win-win opportunity. MCC students can complete their bachelor degrees, and GSC students will have access to the expanded resources we have here at MCC."

Granite State College will offer the following bachelor degree programs at MCC: nursing, health care management, applied studies with management and both teacher and early education.

Kathi Mullen, chief administrative officer of Granite State College, said the partnership will enable the two schools to leverage resources: "To make an education a more distinct and achievable possibility for New Hampshire residents in greater Manchester."

The expectation is that sharing classrooms, library space and student facilities will help both schools control expenses.

Manchester Community College is part of the Community College System of New Hampshire, and offers more than 50 associate degree and certificate programs for transfer and career training. Associate degree programs include allied health, automotive technologies, building construction, business studies, computer technologies, education, HVAC, liberal arts and welding. MCC also offers professional and workforce development, and customized corporate training.
