HLIM115M - Legal Aspects of Health Information (3-0-3)

Covers all legislative regulatory processes related to the confidentiality, privacy and security of personal health information and the policies, procedures and monitoring used to assure compliance. Students will learn legal terminology and the ethical standards of practice in regard to patient rights and advocacy related to release of information. Students will also learn how to apply confidentiality and security measures to assure the integrity and validity of the maintenance and retrieval of PHI.

Prerequisites: HLIM100M and placement into ENGL110M.
