Proposal Guidelines

The purpose of this Guideline is to make clear the expectations of a proposal presented to Student Senate. This governing group’s sole purpose is to represent the student body and to help fund recognized student clubs, and through the three sources of available income Student Senate helps provide the resources needed for a club, event, and the student body at MCC.

Sources of Income and Purpose:

Student Comprehensive Fee - makes up the Student Senate General Fund/. These funds are used to fund college club activities.

Funding Guidelines:

  • Proposals should be presented one week in advance to the board
  • The club representative should be available to present full proposal to Senate meeting to answer questions that the officers as well as the whole group may have
  • Student Senate have historically funded 50% of student expenses and 100% of advisor expenses (we fully fund the advisor because he/she is required to attend) - financial resources are for events such as conferences, trainings, off-site travel and hotel.

A Successful Proposal Should Include:

  1. Date.
  2. Name of club.
  3. Name of presenter.
  4. What are you seeking funds for, who will benefit, and when will the activity take place? Please provide as much lead time as possible.
  5. Itemized list of expenses and costs-attach separate sheet.
  6. Agreement to report back to Senate on how the funds benefited the members of the club and an agreement to return any unused funds to Student Senate.
